Meet the Chef:
Hi, Welcome to Blue Door Kitchen! I am Denise Wellenbrock.
I am home-grown, born and raised in Stockton, California, located in the Central Valley of California. Being of Italian-American heritage, I spent many sunny days in the kitchen of my grandparents, Josephine and Louis Gianelli, perched at the counter on a chair with a flour sack dish towel tied around my neck to keep me clean. My Nonna and Nonno would let me pit fruit for jam, shell peas, taste the filling for stuffed zucchini, and have a hand in the cookies, breads, and dinner rolls they created. I still hear their voices today as I remember their instructions for finding the correct taste, texture, form and appearance. The time we spent together instilled in me a great love and respect for the fresh vegetables and fruit from our Valley. For their everyday fare, meat took a backdoor to the vegetables, a tradition of their homeland, and always a tradition in my cooking.
The experiences that have brought me to offer myself as a Personal Chef are not so different from that of many women that have reached this place in Life: I’ve been cooking for family and friends my entire life. It has been my passion and my joy. My eagerness to learn more has taken me to many classes as an “Enthusiast” at the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, as well as many other venues. It is my desire to pass on what I learn to others that also have a passion for good food and dining experiences.

Let Blue Door Kitchen bring a whole new world of flavors, whether for a Special Occasion or a family meal, into your home. As a Personal Chef, I am available to prepare breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner for smaller parties. Hors d’oeuvres are a specialty! Select from one of our creative, flavorful menus, or we can personalize one to fit your tastes and budget. It is my pleasure to create a warm and welcoming food experience for the people I work with.
Blue Door Kitchen, is here to make your life easier. On a weekly basis, we can help make more valuable use of your time by freeing you to spend more time with your family and friends, spend less than you would by eating out, and enjoy farm fresh, healthy food in your own home.
When you contact Blue Door Kitchen, we will meet with you to discuss your food tastes, allergies or foods to avoid for medical reasons. We will review your budget, create a schedule for having them cooked in your own home, and a menu that you approve. Meals are packaged in containers that can be either reheated in the oven or microwave, and are recyclable.
